MMA’s exhibition collaborators include the Skid Row Housing Trust (Client), Myles Kramer (Filmmaker), Louis Heilbronn (Photographer), and SunWest Fabrication LLC (Steel Fabricator). The installation is on view in the Central Pavilion in the Giardini della Biennale in Venice, Italy. The 16th International Architecture Exhibition will be open to the public through November 25, 2018

When filmmaker Myles Kramer moved to a neighborhood near Downtown three years ago, he was surprised to be confronted by the city’s homelessness crisis on his own block. “Even on my own street, there’s a small line of tents,” he tells Curbed. “It was just a shock to move here and see that.”
The 2017 I Look Up Film Challenge’s Grand Prize winner is Myles Kramer, director of the short film Community by Design: Skid Row Housing Trust.

Filmed in Los Angeles and featuring Michael Maltzan Architecture and Brooks + Scarpa Architecture, the winning film highlights the power of design in improving the lives of those experiencing homelessness. Of the 80 films submitted, the judges gave scores from 1-5 in Storytelling & Prompt, Architectural Placement, and Technical Merit.
The 4-minute film "Community by Design: Skid Row Housing Trust," directed by Myles Kramer, has been selected by as the winner of the AIA's annual I Look Up Film Challenge. Winning out against 81 other entries, the film investigates the impact and approach of the Skid Row Housing Trust, which creates homes for homeless people in Los Angeles, with the help of renowned architects such as Michael Maltzan Architecture and Brooks + Scarpa Architects.
The YouTube-fueled star, whose raunchy humor helped catapult him to chart-topping hip-hop fame, anchors "The Big Talk," a new four-minute ad he created for Trojan and agency Colangelo to urge condom use.
